CELEBRATE NATIONAL VOLUNTEER MONTH

Every year, we celebrate National Volunteer Month in April. It's a perfect time to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of volunteers—those who generously devote their time, energy, and passion to helping their neighbors, improving their communities, and making the world a better place for all of us. This month-long observance shines a spotlight on the countless ways volunteers drive change—from supporting local nonprofits and grassroots initiatives to advancing national and global causes.

AARP Volunteers Make a Difference

AARP was founded by Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, a devoted volunteer and passionate advocate for older Americans. Continuing her legacy, AARP offers meaningful volunteer programs and opportunities – both in person and virtual – that empower people to make a difference. These include:

  • Fraud Prevention: Helping older Americans recognize and avoid scams that can lead to financial harm.
  • Driver Safety: Supporting older drivers to stay safe behind the wheel and connected to their communities.
  • Friendly Voice: Offers reassurance and friendly conversation to older adults who reach out for connection.
  • ElderWatch: Empowering older consumers to protect themselves from fraud, scams, and identity theft.
  • AARP Foundation Experience Corps: Assisting students in becoming stronger readers.
  • Legal Counsel for the Elderly: Defending older Americans from fraud and ensuring they receive trusted legal guidance.
  • AARP Foundation Tax Aide: Providing free tax assistance to low- and moderate-income individuals, helping them claim the refunds they deserve.
  • Senior Planet: Teaching older adults to harness technology and reimagine aging.
  • Wish of a Lifetime: Fulfilling lifelong dreams for older adults.
  • E-activist: Connecting advocates to key legislative and political initiatives in their communities

And more – offering numerous ways to make a significant impact.

A Powerful Force for Good

AARP takes this opportunity to thank our volunteers and every individual who dedicates their time, expertise, and passion to making a difference. Whether you devote a few minutes to lend a hand or commit a lifetime to a cause, there is one thing you all have in common – you inspire us with your generosity and grace.

As Dr. Andrus once said, "The human contribution is the essential ingredient. It is only in the giving of oneself to others that we truly live." We remain grateful for all that you do, for the lives you touch, and for the difference you make.
