SERVING THOSE WHO SERVED: WAYS TO GIVE BACK THIS VETERANS MONTH

November is National Veterans and Military Families Month, and Veterans Day falls on November 11 – a perfect time to focus on giving back to those who serve and the families who stand beside them.

AARP is committed to honoring and supporting the military community through its Veterans and Military Families (VMF) Initiative. The initiative provides trusted information, practical resources, and community support tailored to the unique needs of service members, veterans, and their loved ones.

Launched in 2018, the VMF initiative was created to ensure that veterans and military families have access to assistance in key areas AARP champions – including work and jobs, benefits, caregiving, and fraud prevention. Through strong partnerships and outreach, AARP continues to help veterans connect with the tools and guidance they need to navigate health care, financial security, and everyday challenges.

How You Can Get Involved

One powerful way to get involved is by joining AARP’s Virtual Veterans Brigade – a volunteer network dedicated to sharing valuable information and resources with veterans, service members, and their families. Volunteers help spread awareness, connect people to support, and strengthen the military community across digital platforms and local outreach.

Participation is flexible and meaningful. Whether you share information online, organize local efforts, or simply help connect veterans in your community with helpful programs, every action makes a difference.

This Veterans Month, take time to honor their courage, celebrate their service, and show your gratitude through action. Because serving those who served is one of the most meaningful ways to say, “Thank you.”
